UX audit, also called expert review or heuristic evaluation, is a usability inspection method where experts evaluate a user interface against a set of established usability principles (heuristics). This method can quickly identify usability issues.
To conduct a thorough evaluation of a digital product, we propose the following multi-step methodology that aligns with established UX best practices and delivers actionable insights.
We begin by aligning the analysis with the key Roles and User Journeys relevant to the product. This ensures our evaluation is grounded in real business and user goals, providing context to usability issues uncovered during the analysis.
To perform this step, we will define with the stakeholders which are the key users profiles and list the main tasks in order to evaluate the interfaces through realistic situations.
Our UX experts will perform a structured walkthrough of the product, using Jakob Nielsen’s 10 Usability Heuristics as the foundational evaluation framework. This includes:
